Looking at the components on overclockers I put together a set of components to make a quite cheap system for gaming, with the possibility of upgrades and overclocking in the future. Here's the stuff (all prices include VAT) :

£69.31

Corsair TX 650W ATX2.2 SLi Compliant PSU
£64.61

Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500GB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (ST3500320AS)
£49.34

GeIL 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Black Dragon EVO ONE DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GE24GB800C4DC)
£71.66

Samsung SH-S223F/BEBE 22x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) - OEM
£17.61

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775)
£17.61

Asus M2N-SLi Deluxe (Socket AM2) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
£64.61

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000+ 3.00GHz (Socket AM2) - OEM
£71.66

Akasa AK174CB-4BLB 120mm Blue LED Fan (mounts into side panel of Antec 900 in slot already there)
£9.39

XFX GeForce 8800 GT Alpha Dog 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (PV-T88P-YDF4)
£99.86

+shipping £12.95

=£617.86

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Cheers

The Scop.

Everything looks good tbh, except for the following.

You'll need a HDD. Go for one of the Samsung F! drives - which ever best fits your budget.

Change the 8800 GT for one of the ATI 4850's

And look at getting an C2D

Depending on your budget, maybe go for an X38 mobo instead

Whats your budget?

£800ish max, but if i can build a rig at like £500 an the upgrade it later in life then great. I wanna play latest games like COD4, STALKER (Shadow of Chernobyl + (Clear Sky when its out)), etc. So preferably whatever i get i'd like to have 4gb ram and other than that fraid i'm not an expert on components.

That'll play any game you throw at it, and prob most new games over the next year or two.

Because you have the x38 Mobo you can always add a second 4870 if the need arises

i'd go with most of redeye's spec, drop the geil evo memory to the standard black dragon, up the processor to the 8400 and maybe swap the drive to the 640gb version.
