Good Computers

[Guest2]

What is the point in having a good computer? i.e spending £1000

I see lots of people with good machine in their signatures on here and wonder if its just for bragging rights or because they genuinely need it.

Other than working in huge photoshop files, or needing large screens for programming i cant see what a good computer is needed really. My 4 year old computer plays all latest games bar maybe one in high settings (just not massive AF/AA)

My old graphics card was a 8800GT, it won't play the games I play now on my 24" monitor so yes it was needed. this 4870 handles everything apart from Crysis.

I have an 8800, it handles almost everything on my 24" screen. Even that new game 'risen' works in highest res.

The only thing i need is drive space as i mainly use my pc for media. Next upgrade is a DAC when i get some money

Why have a pretty girlfriend when the pasty is all the same?!

Its not. Usually fat gorilla girls have fat gorilla style 'pasty'

I have a good (reasonably good) sound system because i enjoy listening to good quality music. I have a half decent house instead of living in a cardboard box so i can keep warm and feel good.

Think ive just answered my own question there

- To feel good.

Not many people need a sports car, fast pc or mansion. But it makes them feel good. Maybe some people have these things because their life is lacking something else
