I am starting to get into PC gaming, with BF 2142...however, the keyboard and mouse is hard for me since i am resting the keyboard and mouse on my lap. Is there a control that can be used with the game, and most pc games in general?

You're about to get a lot of answers saying that you need to reorganise your layout so you can use the keyboard and mouse.

You need to reorganise your desk so you can use the keyboard and mouse on it. Trust me no controller beats a proper mouse for accuracy.

Sort kb and mouse out :p

Other wise the xbox360 controller is the best for the pc a lot of games come with default mappings for it, but there are drivers/configs to let you use it with just about everything :)

Keyboard and mouse is by far the best bet - especially for shooters etc.

Driving games or "platformers" could be played with an Xbox 360 pad.

I use an Ikea Dave laptop Table, and have cut a Boogie Bug mousemat to cover the surface of the table.
I use this combination for keyboard and mouse to rest on, and it can be adjusted in height with your seating arrangement, as well as distance from your monitor.
Note, it only works well because I'm using a logitech K300 compact keyboard, which means more surface area for the mouse. Also the table might not be stable on thick carpets.
Anyway, just food for thought.

Do yourself a favour and get a desk, or tidy your existing one up if it's just a matter of it being too messy to rest your KB/M on while playing.

You will be absolutely destroyed in any FPS if you're using a pad against people with a KB/M. Control pads are only good for racing games and platformers/adventure games.

just been sick a little, managed to swallow it back down lol.

Get a nice big desk for your pc. 360pad is good for sports and platformers, 3rd person games to a degree but not for FPS.
