Good deal?!

Hi guys, so i finally have money to spend on a new pc and i have found one on a certain auction site with these specs:

AMD Athlon Dual Core 5200+ CPU
nFORCE4 & nVIDIA Geforce 6100 Chipset
4GB DDR2 677Mhz PC5300 RAM
640GB SATA300 HDD
nVIDIA 8800GTX 768MB 16XPCI-Express

This will cost me £999.99! I will only use it for gaming and web browsing and im really to lazy to build one so is this a good deal?

To be Honest no.

I did exactly same spec as what you have listed above and it came out as
Total : £979.81 thats with good quality components and plus 4gig of ram is unnecessary really.

I would go for Core 2 Duo, whats your budget?

Im pretty sure you could build a much better one for cheaper.

Especially as 4gb is overkill, and faster ram (probably just unbranded stuff) would be better to overclock with (if you intend to).

Personally i would NOT purchase that sort of system for that price. It would do for quite a while i guess, but you could get a much better system for that price.

Swap out the AMD for a core 2.

Reduce the ram to 2gb and make at least 800mhz spec.

Go for a 650i chipset or 680i and your away.

You can do much better than that. Don't bother with an AMD core either. C2D is the way to go.

4GB isn't such a big spend these days and would be kinda future proofing. I'd definately go with it on a new PC.
