Good defrag software?

People still get excited over defrag?

Win7 has a scheduled task that does it every week in the background

Defrag? Isn't that what we used to do about 5 years ago when the C drive had a spindle in the middle?

Defraggler.

This is what I do first..

Disable system restore
Run ccleaner
Disable hibernation, disable pagefile.

Defrag.

Then I turn pagefile and hibernation back on.

Ultradefrag. Tried most of those listed in this thread, but they never cut the mustard for me. I do a defrag every month or so, and after the first pass Ultradefrag always has less to defragment than the rest - which tells me that it has done a good job in the first place.

Use the OS one, defrag is not as important now as it use to be, the OS ones have improved dramatically. There's little point installing more on your PC in order to sort out fragmentation when the OS on Windows 7 and 8 manage it fine.

By all means if you need a third party program to pat you on your back every week/month for absolutely nothing feel free.

Haven't even considered defrag since moving to Windows 7, it'd be like tweaking autoexec and config.sys files on the OS :p

Piriform defraggler is my defragging weapon of choice. I'm sure windows ones are fine now but I have been using defraggler since the days of XP and it has always done a good job so I just kind of trust it

+1

Never had an issue with it, used for years, works flawlessly.
