Ill start off by pointing out nothing was purchased via OCUK.

A friend of mine purchased a pre-built pc. It stoped working and it was sent back for repair. They had apparantly fixed/replaced several items within the machines and ran diagnositics before sending it back. The first of these diagnostics failed, however the second didnt so they deemed it ok to return. After return it is showing the same problems as it had before. He has contacted the company to try and get them to repair it, however if there is problems with it again (after reading reviews on the company will probably be the case) he will likly request a refund based on the machine not being fit for purpose. Is there any sort of diagnostic tool which can give and output that is useable for making a claim?

Also for anyone who has experiance with this, comments or advise would be welcome.

Thanks,

Deonilin

I don't think there's any sort of diagnostic tool rather then software stressing stuff and the good ol fashion "take every part and try it in another pc"

There are diagnostic boards you can buy that slot into a pci slot but you would need to open the case etc which would invalidate the warranty.
the only other thing i can think of that will test all of the hardware inside the pc would be sysoft sandra pro. You would have to do the full extensive tests which do take some time to complete.

Intel Burn Tool is quite good. Makes Prime95 look like a walk in the park in terms of system stress. If somethings going to wet itself CPu/northbridge/RAW-wise, chances are that will show it.

Other than that, Sandra Burn in test, set to run in a loop overnight is always a good one.

I can't understand how nobody has asked what the fault actually is

Presumably it boots? Otherwise they wouldn't have sent it back, right?

Tell us what the fault is and maybe we can give you better advice, rather than testing everything in a different build etc.
