I'm sure this has been asked hundreds of times before!

Planning on stuffing my face and then going to a few bars for some drinks afterwards for my Birthday on Saturday, nothing too heavy!

A friend recommended Byron Burger in Islington, as I did say something with a decent grill & large portions would be welcomed but it doesn't look that special or have that much variety.

Has anyone been somewhere recently in London that fits the bill? Man v food style challenge would be welcomed!

Thanks,

BennyC

Byron is a burger chain. A fairly decent burger chain but not one you'd make a special visit to. Everyone loves Bodeans, but the food is not that special, it's just a fairly decent ribs/grill/American place.

You might want to specify a budget and/or area of London?!

(PS: In before the Hawksmoor suggestions..)

Thanks, I'm not looking to break the bank but am not too sure about my friends so I would imagine in the region of £15 for a main.

A google brought up:
http://reddogsaloon.co.uk/ and their 'Devastator' has my eyes wide.

Not too fussed about the area of London tbh as we can always get teh tube somewhere nicer for drinks if the area of the restaurant happens to be a hole!

The whole American restaurant recommendations has been done a lot in the Food forum. General consensus is any of the following are pertty decent, with Pitt Cue being the best -- if you can get in.

Pitt Cue (Soho)
Bodeans (Soho)
Dukes Brew and Que (Hackney)
The Big Easy (Chelsea)

and Meatmarket (Covent Garden), Meat Liquor (Marylebone) or even Patty and Bun for the best burgers in London.
