Good free Mac backup software

Hi,

I am currently using Time Machine to do encrypted backups to an external HDD but I would also like an alternative backup solution to a second external HDD just in case Time Machine runs into any issues (have heard many horror stories of this).

Is there any good/free backup software out there? I was using Carbon Copy Cleaner but now this seems to be a paid for app...

Cheers

Thanks for the response, I have never heard of 'Deja Vu' before, is it good?

Also out of interest when Time Machine encrypted my external HDD partition it appears to have encrypted the entire drive and not just the selected partition.

Is this how drive encryption works or is it possible to simply encrypt a partition?

Carbon Copy Cloner is in my opinion the best however it's no longer donationware but fully worth the full price for what it does.

SuperDuper! Is probably the next best option, they offer a free but more limited version as well as a paid option. Both will effectively create a complete bootable clone of your drive onto another drive.

Edit: Déjà vu doesn’t get brilliant reviews:

I've always preferred SuperDuper! to CCC. Give it a try, you won't regret it.
