Good, free Photo software

My brother is after a good free program so that he can open up his pictures and edit the a bit and then have the option to print them off. Any recommendations?

If he wants something for editing more than "a bit", GIMP might be the answer. Of course, it can also be used for just "a bit".

Lexar was given away Corel Paint Shop Pro X free to download from the Corel website. I couldnt find the link so Im not sure if it still free

picassa is an excellent manager, you can do basic photo tasks very easily in it, it's also made by google
