Hey, bought a laptop and was looking to put a few games onto it - have you got any recommendations for a laptop with intergrated gfx? ATI 1250 btw.

Other specs are a T5550 1.83ghz dualcore , 2gb RAM.

Cheers guys! :D

P.S tried putting KOTOR 2 on it, and everytime I go to play it, I get an error saying :

KOTOR 2 has stopped working.

A problem caused the problem to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Anybody know any fixes at all?

Using the latest graphics driver?

As for other games, anything pre-2005 should work ok if you don't overdo the settings (don't expect to play at 1280x800 either).

Downloading the latest drivers now - good idea! :D

Why would I not expect to play games at 1280x800 btw? Sorry if thats a thick question! :D

KOTOR2 seems very unlikely to play at all, you might get lucky though.

Baldur's Gate II, well over 300hours playtime if you look for it =D

Too many pixels, simply put. Most IGPs have a lousy pixel fillrate (thanks to having just 2 pipelines), they just can't redraw that amount fast enough to keep pace with the action. I don't want to go on in case I've already confused you ;)

Deus Ex 1, Half Life 1, Football Manager 2008, Battlefield 1942, Medieval: Total War (not Medieval 2), Final Fantasy VII...

I R NOT RETAAAAARD...

;)

What your basically saying is that the gfx chip wont be able to keep up with filling the pixels, and would therefore blow up or keel over and die? :D

Certainly not fast enough for you to play the game ;)

Morrowind will be fine, forget Oblivion though..

I had a 1.6ghz dual core dell laptop with ATI x1300 - don't know if that is similar or how different the "1250" is.

I was able to play HL2 with no problems.

If it can't handle that, I never get bored of live for speed, and the graphics are pretty basic.

Currently replaying max payne 1 & 2, starcraft, warcraft and UT2004. And I'm on Intel X3100 integrated. But with Max Payne there is a problem with sound on Vista but that's been fixed with an unofficial patch (go to the official forum for details).

Will try the original COD on it later.

Ive never actually played the original COD before - may have to give it a go :)

I've a similar spec machine and have been playing:

The Orange Box and all its wonderful contents
The Witcher (some cut-scene flaws otherwise ok, few (normal!) crashes)
Battlefield 2142
Harry Potter and the order of the pheonix
Bioshock (Slow loading but fine gameplay)
Lemmings

All with no problems with integrated graphics - nvidia geforce go 7400 chip (iirc).

Yea thats quite a big jump from what Ive got mate - bioshock no way, and I can play BF2 on the lowest setting at the lowest res - aint good lol :(

Fallout 1&2

Good RPG very good story, and excellent humor, very dark.

If you play them then you'll come to love the phrase

"hey Loyd catch" (if you ever find that point :P )
