Hello i wanted to build a gaming pc which will be eable to run Crysis 1280x1024 on Ultra. on other forum i was told it will be possible with this setup.

* Operating System (Most likely Windows XP/Vista) - Vista 32 Home Premium

BTW Windows 7 or Vista???

i havent made my mind up on the case yet =/
 
pay a bit more for a Modular 650W psu.
get a HDD with 32mb cache.
get a case with better airflow, like an antec 902.
get a 64-bit operating system, windows 7 if you're willing wait a bit
 
hmmmm i duno i was told the graphics hard can handle aslong as AA is 0...
everything about 700 quid just enough....
well if u can find better stuff for 700 quid then cheers
 
a 260 won't run Crysis on ultra....sorry but at your playing resolution and Ultra settings you'll be lucky to get 20 fps with a GTX260

After all, with the current pre-order pricing, Windows 7 (Home Premium) is £30 cheaper than Vista! Though, you will have to find a copy of the free release candidate, if you want to use Windows 7 before the October 22nd launch (you will need to start over with the retail version).

Also, I don't know how much that GTX 260 is costing you, but you can probably pick up a 4890 for the same price, which will be faster:

If you insist on going Nvidia, then maybe you can stretch to the 275 that's currently on offer:

wow its performance is defeneatly impressing. can you find something like that for far cry 2 or prototype lol?

edit: also will that 275 last for atleast 1 year and be eable to run games on atleast high?

There are Far Cry 2 benchmarks in the article I linked to ;), but here are some more benchmarks from a lot of games including Far Cry 2 (can't find any Prototype benchmarks, though).

How long the card will last depends at what resolution you run at. If that's 1280x1024, then you should be fine for a long time (perhaps 2 years or more), as the 275 is basically overkill for that resolution, except in Crysis at Very High/Enthusiast.

Most console ports don't push PC hardware very much, at this point, so increasing hardware requirements aren't a big issue.
 
For "about" £700you would be far better with something like this mate...

why do you want motherboard with inbuilt video?

get for example ga ep45 ds3r
wd black harddrive
corsair or kingston ram
and 275/4890 graphics card. Dont get overclocked versions, oc them yourself =)

the rest looks alright

Yeah mate would crunch through crysis on Ultra no bother i would say :)

and yeah, its AM3 and DDR3 which is about as "future proof" as you are going to get at this time :)

EDIT -

and Xfire ready, to be able pop another 4890 in later on :)
