Good HDD testing software

Anyone know of a great app that can test my hard disk drives for DMA enabled and any physical/logical faults it might have as i really think my boot drive might have a problem.

SpeedFan picks up the S.M.A.R.T. data from the HD (assuming the HD supports that...) and gives you all kind of useful feedback.

Each Hd manufacture will have a DFT (Drive Fitness Tool) for their Hd's!!!
Surprisingly enough no-one knows how better to test for errors on the Hd's then the people who actually made them!! lol
