Good idea? Not good idea?

i am currently using a Dell U3014 monitor. I spend 70% of pc time gaming, the rest work, watching videos etc. I am running a Sapp 290X Vapor and am thinking about selling this monitor for a more gaming orientated model such as one of the 4K screens. Either the Asus or the AOC probably. I know without asking that the pic quality on the Dell is going to be better but will I get a better gaming experience? I also use my XBone and PS4 on the screen and with a mild amount of OCD flowing through me I hate the top & bottom borders on a 16:10.

Any suggestion, recommendations, insults etc welcome.

4K seems overkill right now. 1440P seems perfectly good with your 290X though, so, you could go that way.

Thanks for the reply. I do agree that 4k may be overkill, maybe I should focus more on a suitable 16:9 replacement for the U3014. I do quite like the 21:9 screens but the consoles I fear may look like their running on a 23" screen.

If I was going to go 4k I'd wait for the gsync/freesync 4k monitors.

I wouldn't go 4k at all. Most users don't have enough gpu grunt to even get playable frames on 4k. 1440p is your best bet. I'd wait for maxwell to even think about 4k.
