Hi all,

Moving into a different property soon and just looking at the internet connection.
I currently have Virgin Media Broadband but I know at the new address there is currently just a BT phone point.

I understand it is possible to have broadband from telephone point but is it any good? Don't know how practical it will be to have a virgin cable put in as property is old,

Thanks

I have internet through my phone line that is faster than any cable connection I've seen.

Depends where you live.

What speed is that?

We had BB through our phone line and the speeds were terrible (4/0.5). Recently got cable last year and the speeds are 127/11 now

I've got bb through my phone line and have 20mb download and 1 upload. Before I moved I had the exact same kind of package and had 2mb down and 0.2 up. Completely depends where abouts you are.

VM do 120 MB and are trialling 200MB currently.

sure the upload speeds aren't great but downloads are fantastic.

upload is usually 5% but areas are now being slowly upgraded to 10% of the download speed.

i used to be on 120MB and 5MB upload, switched to phone line and im now on 10MB and 1MB upload, im now 12 times slower at downloading and 5 times slower at uploading.

the only thing im worried about on my current speed is the upload, large family with a lot of devices:

2 smart tv's, 2 consoles, 2 sky + HD box's, a treadmill, 3 pc's, 2 laptops, 1 tablet and 5 smartphones.

would prefer if my upload was at least 2MB tbh, but for the money i cannot complain.
