Good Karaoke songs!

Hey all, I go to a pub in Romford called The Bull and every Thursday they have karaoke nights. What good songs are there to do for this? Me and my mates already did Kaiser Chiefs "I predict a riot". Here's what I got noted already:
Billy Idol - White Wedding
Bryan Adams - Summer of 69, Run To You, The Only Thing That Looks Good On Me
Dire Straits - Walk Of Life
Nickelback - How You Remind Me
Paul Simon - You Can Call Me Al

Anybody have any suggestions?

That's where i'm different, I don't try to do karaoke, I CAN do karaoke! Never in a 1000 years will I do those songs though. Thnaks for the input though.

I'm a karaoke expert. It's what gave me the initial idea to become an Elvis Tribute act.

Believe it or not but people do actually want to hear a song done well. With that in mind I offer the following advice:

Do not stare at the screen. Face the audience and make eye contact with women. Only sing a song of which you already know the structure and timing. It doesn't matter if you don't know all the words because a quick glance at the screen will get you out of trouble. Take your timing cues from the music you hear and NOT the indicator on the screen otherwise you'll be behind the time.

Don't be afraid to ask for the key of the backing track to be lowered. It's not a crime to not be blessed with the vocal range of the original artist. One or two semi-tones is usually enough.

Same with reverb. Listen to previous singers and decide whether you need more or less reverb on the mic.

Initially, start with the mic an inch from your mouth. As you come to parts where you sing louder, hold the mic at least six inches away. Too close on louder parts and you'll distort the sound.

Don't hand the mic back before the end. Stay in performing mode right up until the end of the music.

Lastly, have fun.

That's exactly it man! I need to know the structre of the song i'm performing before I can do it. I also agree that people do want to hear a song done well because when I think karaoke, I think people who can't sing and are out of time with the track. So when I do a song well, I get a big round of applause! Thanks for the advice on not starring at the screen, I think it shows confidence when you look at the crowd. Cheers dude
