Good LAN Racing Game?

Just wondering if someone here could recommend a good LAN racing game(s) please? They seem surprisingly rare these days!

I have two PCs next to each other and thought it would be fun to race when my friends come over. Most games have multiplayer nowadays but would rather just play against friends on LAN with other AI opponents. I know its possible to unofficially add LAN on some games with mods and third party programs, but would rather just keep things simple!

Ideally with modern day cars and with controller support.

Race07 and the exp packs? You can run a dedicated server on your own pc as well if needed. It also has a ton of mods including a load of nice cars people have made as well. It is also dirt cheap.
 
We play Blur and Race Driver: GRID on our LAN weekends. Both work well, but we've had occasions where Blur would stop letting some of the PCs connect to games. Could have been the motley mix of PCs to be fair (some Win7, some XP, etc) but sometimes it would work and other times just report that the joining PC couldn't connect to all players. Brilliant when it works though. GRID has always been solid and dependable.
 
GRID is good though I've never found a wheel setup that worked well with it :| all the ones I've tried (which work fine with other games) result in super twitchy steering.

If your not taking it too seriously could try something like TDU2 which while I don't think it has LAN play even in offline mode IIRC you can lock down races, etc. to just friends while having freeroam, etc. options as well. (EDIT: Maybe not a good option as it seems the game doesn't like concurrent connections from the same IP though some firewall tricks can apparently sort that).

Firewalls off on all machines. Regularly causes issues at the LANs I go to, someone can join the game with a firewall on but then it can stop anyone else joining until they leave! Great fun though :D
