okeydokey, its got a cheesey title but please get past that and buy/rent it!!
Quick review without giving too much away,

a Mysterious man known only as V begins a terrorsit campaign across an england of the future that due to the geopoliticle situation of the time (and some references to an ever increasing american war with the east...) has transformed the democratic government into a cross between Nazzi Germany and george orwells vision of 1984.

he is suprised to find an allie in a young female whom he comes to trust.

the main characters:
V: played by Hugo Weaving

Also known as Agent Smith from the matrix and Anthony 'Tick' Belrose/Mitzi Del Bra in my personal favourite, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.

I couldnt believe it at the end when i found out he had played V, it was a masterful performance, he created a character that was deeply pasionate and creative and yet absolute and ruthless in his execution of events.

Evey Hammond played by Natalie Portman.

After her in my opinion, terrible performances in StarWars i am extreamly happy to report that she played this character very well, transforming her from a simple sheep to a freedom fighter, my only regret about her character is that they didnt make enough use of her...

The final scene in the film is remarkable, the shots of london with all the masks (youl see what i mean) although mostly done in CGI are beautiful and the sequences for the finale are spectacular. :)

my only regret about this film was that it left me wanting more action! the scripting was wonderful though :)

What i have picked up from the reviews ive read is that the original fans of the graphic novel that it is based on were not at all happy with this silver screen adaptation, but I myself came at it not knowing anything about it and as such have an unbiased view of the film. There are also a lot of people (namely Americans it would seem) who believe the film openly promotes a homosexual lifestyle (due to about 60 seconds of dialogue in the middle) and is massively anti christian, personally i think they are reading abit too much into the film and should just shut the **** up and enjoy it for what it is, an Action film with a dark theme and a good script.

i give it 8.5 out of 10.

Also recognisable to me in this film are:
Stephen Fry

(i noticed a goof in the film, look for him in the crowd at the end)

John Hurt

The film sounds good but I've not yet watched it and I'm not too sure if I will bother since most reviews slate it(although that normally is a good indicator the film will be interesting) just to point out though most of your pictures aren't working.

Trust me you need to see this movie, i refused to watch it after seeing the mask.

I was sooo wrong its bloomin amazing. :D

the pictures are all working fine... must be something up on your end. as for the reviews that slate it, reviews slate most films that are good for some odd reason. watch it.

I absolutely love this movie - my 2 disc Special Edition is on pre-order ;)

I never read the comic but, surprise-surprise, it wasn't popular with fans of that...

Natalie's accent was also a bit hit and miss, but hey, I'll let her off this once ;)

Huge fan of the original but I thought it was a good attempt and well worth seeing. It's not exactly the same as the novel but how many films are?

Saw it at the Cinema and had not seen any reviews or previews or read the comic, so to me it was utterly surprising what it was about (didnt even know it was set in London :p). Really really enjoyed it, very thought provoking.

This thread's a bit late isnt it?

I saw the film in the cinema and thought it was nothing more than a popcorn wannabe-more, run-of-the-mill, Hollywood-type. Entertaining, interesting and slightly different. But essentially nothing special.

The thread isnt late at all, its just come out on DVD, :) given most people see things on DVD these days and given this film isnt widely known about, i thought id tell you all about it.

Its terrible, its an empty shell of a film in which precisely NOTHING happens.
3 words.. then dont post...

I saw this film with no previous knowledge of the comic etc and thought it was very good, much better than I expected. I also think the action scene at the end in slow motion absolutely kicks ass :D

Like many others have said, I watched this film not knowing what on earth i was about to watch, i had absolutely no knowledge of this film atall.

One of the best films ive seen for a while. OK so it took a while for the storyline to pick up, and theres them odd moments of 'what the hell was that scene about/for?', but then in the next scene you find out why and all is redeemed.
The action scenes are also very good, with the screenplay done by the same guys who done the matrix films, the wachowski brothers.

I would give it 8.5/10

Another great film from the Wachowski Brothers. I really enjoyed the film when I saw it at the cinema it has some great dialogue and the scenes at the end were amazing. The fact you never get to see his face, hidden behind a guy fawkes mask really adds to the atmosphere.

Terrible, horrible film. I doubt the sanity of anyone who claims it was good. I actually considered walking out of the cinema it was that bad (only happened once before, with The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen).

It's okay.

Overrated though.

what? how is it overrated when no buggers heard of it... critics slated it   and fans of the original novel hated it

thats not exactly over rated.

I thought it was crap too. Just seemed like a total rip of Zorro. Instead of cutting a Z with the sword, he cuts a V... LAME.
