Ive not looked at a PSU for a while and just want to know what are good makes?

When I bought my last one it was Antec and Corsair were the makes to look for.

I would say that argueably the best psu's around at the moment are the EVGA Supernova G2 series. All are Superflower built and based on their own Leadex Gold platform but EVGA give them a whopping great warranty (550w, 650w=7 years, 750w and above get 10 years).

Don't look at the make, look at the model - corsair, evga, almost all have good and bad units e.g. B1 evga isn't great, but ps, g2, GS, p2 etc

Ive had my antec earthwats 380W for 7 years with not even a blip. may be cheeky and see if it runs the gtx 460.

Yeh evga psu i wouldn't of even considered. If I do go with one probably would be Antec. Great make Ace Modder ;)

You need to be really careful as you are getting to the limits of that psu. It only has 324w on the 12v rail and most reviews I have checked put total system power draw with a GTX460 at 290w. You are not giving yourself much headroom, especially as you have such a old psu.

This. Can't argue with a 10 year Warranty on the 750w G2 :D

EVGA or BeQuiet. Both superb. Antec.........Meh!!

Can't see how you can say Antec are meh when you think Bequiet are superb. Antec has several Delta and Seasonic built units which are quality unit's. The op's is a Seasonic built unit and was good in it's day. Bequiet on the other hand mainly has their units built by FSP and a few by HEC, both of which have produced some awful units in the past. Bequiet's psu's are largely mediocre and all are overpriced while most of the "cheaper" ones have fairly weak 12v rails for what are supposed to be modern psu's.

Timmymeuk1, If you can stretch to £59.99 you can stick with Antec and have the high quality, gold rated Truepower Classic 550w. It's not modular but then again the EVGA 500B that you have selected isn't either. It is a much better quality unit though and is built by Seasonic for Antec.

I think this covers a lot of it:

Not sure - its missing a few good units for the UK market and has 1-2 actually terrible PSUs rated fairly highly and low rates 1-2 actually good PSUs.

Sometimes you get PSUs based on a solid OEM design but they cheap out on some aspects i.e. connector quality, etc. (not pointing at Antec here).
