Good mouse upgrade from a Logitech G5?

I've had my Logitech G5 for as long as I can remember (10 years maybe?) and I'm feeling it's time for a change, but I'm not sure what would be a good upgrade.
I do a lot of productivity work (software development) and some gaming (if I can find the time), so does need to be comfortable for using

I've been using a Cougar Minos X3 at work and it's nice, but I wouldn't say it is any better than the G5.
Do the X5 or the Revenger offer anything notable over the X3?

A few others that I've been considering are:
Steelseries Rival 700 (currently reduced) - screen a gimmick? quite heavy?
Steelseries Sensei 310 - seems to be very well rated
Logitech G502 - looks a bit odd (I do prefer the smoother look of the Sensei) but otherwise good? (switchable between notched scroll wheel and free spin)
Corsair Glaive - seems good, though would the harpoon be a better option?

Any other options I could consider? Or should I stick with the G5?

I personally would not buy the G502 my laser went after about 6 months and the customer service is the worst I've ever experienced! Been going on for well over a month, only responded after about 3 weeks and only to point me to there troubleshooting page saying they would close the case in two days if I didn't respond. Back using the Corsair m65 and I actually prefer it. Mice are subjective to an individual's hands and grip style - what suits me won't necessarily suit you but at least I've had good experience with returning to Corsair - albeit having to send to Holland ( I think).

What is that 'sniper' button like on the M65? does it require a firm press, or could it be pressed accidentally? Won't be much use to me if my other half keeps hitting the button by accident ;)

I found the G502 to be a worthy successor to my old MX510 and also had a Zowie FK2. I found the sensor on the G502 to be brilliant especially as I been playing arena shooters for 20 years or so. I like the fact you can adjust the weights at the bottom of the mouse in quite a few different configurations to get right balance point and weight. Only downside is the wheel could be "firmer". Its by no means bad, just felt it could be a tad better.

Yeah sniper button for my style of grip was very easily pressed, took me a while to get used to it and now not an issue but you can disable or remap the key in the software like most 'gaming' mice. Idealy although not possible much nowadays, you want to try before you buy and as someone who has gone through a fair few of mice, some fit my hand a lot better than others.

Think I'll pass on the M65 then, sounds like the button could get annoying even if it is disabled :(
I did a bit more research and I think I have it down to either the Steelseries Rival 310, or the Cougar Revenger S. Both seem like solid mice with good tracking and comfortable to use. Just need to make a final decision now!

That's not something I would normal do, but if the staff are suggesting it.... hats off to ocUK customer support as usual :)

I must have missed the G403 (think I saw the wireless model before and dismissed it), the wired one actually looks like it covers what I am looking for. Think I'll give that one a shot and see how it goes.

I've had my g403 for a while now and I came from the Logitech g400.

Now that my hand is use to it, the g403 is amazing! I don't think you'd be disappointed with it. All reviews praise the mouse

I got the G403 and it seems pretty good. Feels good in the hand, seems accurate (more so than my G5) and responsive. So I think I'm going to be happy with it :)

thanks for the recommendations.

I'm glad to hear that you went for the G403

I tried playing with my G4 again (same shape as your G5) and it felt so weird and the responsiveness was worse haha
