Hey all

Currently on Multiplay with the mumble and minecraft host, for I think 3 months now. Both have had plenty of problems with lag, especially minecraft its ridiculous. The mumble was so cheap when we bought the MC so.

Not bothered really about getting a MC server again (though if any reccomendations on a host, go ahead)

Can anyone reccomend a host for Mumble then?
Cheers

Multiplay are excellent hosts for TS3 servers. Why not get one as it is the most advanced VOIP in terms of Vent/Mumble/TS?

It's really not - Mumble is far superior.

@OP:

How much linux/etc knowledge do you have? You could probably get an entire dedicated server setup from somewhere like Kimsufi for the same price as you'd be paying for Minecraft + Mumble hosting elsewhere.

None ;) Ours was also £18.25 for 3 months, for mumble and MC. The mumble has needed a kick a few times in the last few days, and it just randomly restarted.

Never had lag issues with any of the voice servers I've had from Multiplay. Have you tried contacting their support and telling them about your problems?

Also TS is aids on a stick.

Ah, the lowest end Kimsufi dedi is about that much per month but even ignoring the increase in cost if you don't know your way around linux it will be a very steep learning curve (though possible if you're technically able).

Have for MC, no help really. Told me to run a few diagnostics.. Haven't done so far for mumble.

So worth it if your hosting for a larger group. But yeah, effort to learn :D

rtl-servers.co.uk should be pretty good

EDIT just noticed their offer

I'd be inclined to agree with FrenchTart with the hosting it yourself on a dedi/VPS, although unsure of the requirements with regards to Minecraft - may push the VPS price up somewhat.

If you're looking for a Mumble provider, then perhaps try MumbleBoxes, I've had a server with them for a little over 3 months now and cannot fault them. They use Linode who generally come well recommended.

Price has increased a little since I bought a 25 slot server on 12 months, it worked out at £15 and is about £20 now.

The web interface is excellent and allows you to change the various setttings; name (no branding), welcome text, SSL cert (if using your own hostname to avoid connect warning), server bans, enable CVP etc. You can even use their hosted version of MumbleReader to display the current users/chans on your site without resorting to iframes.

By default the server won't show in the public list but that can easily be changed with a support ticket, plus it will have a green background. Brian's replies are generally quick as well, especially as I believe he's from Canada/US (I opened 2 tickets and they were in the afternoon/evening).

:p
