Good music for a powerpoint?

Music to play you in?

Sorry, but if it were me listening to the presentation, I would immediately find that tacky and off-putting. If the facts you are presenting are not sufficient to get the point across, resorting to cheap tricks won't help.

That said, using music could be commonplace in some circles for all I know. The powerpoints I have done or have viewed have all been in science + engineering fields.

Music in a powerpoint is fairly cheesey... especially if you are talking over the top.

Do you want to come across like you are selling time share?

no music, no crazy animations, no crazy slide transitions.

I cannot stress this enough.

This man is correct, ignore any who suggest otherwise. Music in any serious business presentation is akin to saying, "I know you're not busy and your time is certainly not important to me so here are some of my favourite tracks while I work out what I can try to say to get me through the next 5 minutes".

Powerpoint is a tool to convey important and pertinent points to your audience, not a way to pad out a dry, boring or empty presentation. And the people you're presenting to will be only too aware of this.

Music is such a bad idea. The only time you should ever have sound in a presentation is if it's part of a video - and the video is important for the presentation.

Excellent idea - I love music in presentations. May I suggest something like 'Worlds Greatest' by R Kelly to get everyone in the mood.

Everyone suggest he does it. It'll be worth it for the 'erm, so presentation didn't turn out so well' thread tomorrow.

why would you ever want music in it, its a presentation, music = year 7 it, just found i can add sounds

I watched a presentation done the other week by a woman and it was all about communication.
She was panicking because she couldn't get the sound on so I helped her.
It was embarassing to hear these cheap little 8 bit beeps but she thought it was great.
