Good News for .Net developers

Microsoft will begin by offering the source code (with source file comments included) for the .NET Base Class Libraries ASP.NET, Windows Forms, ADO.NET, XML, and WPF. The source code will be released under the Microsoft Reference License (MS-RL).

That's pretty damn generous and a kick in the nuts for those that didn't think they'd go down this route.

Under a look but don't touch license that is recognised by the open source standards.

True, and why not, it's their intellectual property and they never claimed it wouldbe under the open source licence.

But for a lot of developers (myself included), finding out why certain methods can't be overriden or what impact certain libraries have is a massive massive help.

not a kick for "us," when they have been pestered into doing it. It's a victory for "us."

You could always reflect the assemblies and view there contents anyway!
