Good Old Games has shut down

means that as soon as they can they'll find away to get you access to your games again i think they took peoples access away.

if my electricity provider cut my power off for 2 days as an advertising campaign I'd be cancelling my contract with them and never trust them again.

From the took access away I assumed it was access to any games you may want. And tbh anyone who hasnt got the game backed up or already installed isnt that fussed about playing said game right now - they did state that they would get access soon enough so it was hardly life or death.

Steam is more a closer comparison to your electricity in that you need constant access in order to use its service. This would be like if the steam shop shut for 2 days rather than steam itself. You cant buy them right now (semi annoying possibly) and you cant download your old games right away as already said.

They did update the service after all. Its a pretty niche site so any advertisement and extra views to keep it going is surely a good thing, and I cant imgaine them doing it again just to annoy people (funny once, ugh twice).

Don't have room to back up the steam folder etc, that's the whole point of these services, that you have an unlimited online back up you don't have to worry about.

When their one unique selling point over digging it up cheaper in a bargain bin goes there's no point using them.

My view on it is they have been unprofessional for making people think the site was shutting down and for it to turn out to be a publicity stunt.
