With the revelation of a new release schedule from Activision-Blizzard this morning, highlighting the publishers autumn/winter line-up, Electronic Theatre can today confirm that the PC version of the highly-anticipated Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has suffered a delay. Originally due for a simultaneous release with the rest of 2009’s Call of Duty onslaught, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will now officially be late to the party.

On November 10th 2009, the latest batch of Call of Duty releases will arrive on each of the leading formats. Nintendo’s Wii will receive its’ first Call of Duty release with the Modern Warfare subtitle, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Reflex, alongside the Nintendo DS’s exclusive Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Mobilised. Of course, November 10th also marks the release of one of the most anticipated games of the year, Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The PC release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, however, will now arrive a fortnight later, on November 24th 2009.

No official reason has yet been given for the delay, though Electronic Theatre would suggest that perhaps manufacturing constraints are to blame. Though many may expect the delay to be a measure to counteract piracy issues, as was seen with THQ’sElectronic Theatre Image Red Faction: Guerrilla and each of Capcom’s 2009 big three, two weeks surely won’t dull any underhanded intentions, and with worldwide release dates drawing ever closer publishers are under increased pressure to ship sufficient quantities of their titles to meet demand in a timely manner, and as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is likely to perform better at retail on consoles than PC, it’s not surprising Activision-Blizzard has chosen to delay Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on PC rather than any other format. Electronic Theatre will keep you updated with all the latest from Activision-Blizzard and the Call of Duty franchise.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::o:o

I wouldn't really call this "shafted", that's more Halo/GTA type delays.
It'll still be out in time for the xmas buying season.

Bearing in mind that there will doubtless be a plethora of other bigname titles coming out in November to keep people occupied, I suspect another 2 weeks isn't going to kill anyone.

I actually haven't played COD4:MW yet,( I know... shoot the infadel :))

At least for me it will give me a few weeks to install and play this (apparently) awesome game before the sequel arrives. Here's hoping the extra weeks will eliminate any bugs and improve the experience for PC gamers.

I really should have got round to this sooner, I got the game for Christmas 07.

I'd call this getting shafted

Good things come to those that wait :D

Yeah, in this case a console orientated game in a pc game box, oh but wait, been that way since cod2. :mad:

The piracy excuse is laughable, nomatter how much they delay it, its gonna get pirated so whats the point? Infact it wouldnt suprise me if its out for dload on 360 before the actual release date of the console versions..but games devs these days seem to like to not acknowledge that console piracy exists and is getting worse. (see whingetek for more info)

One thing that really bugs me is devs rambling on about pc piracy, to an extent pc piracy isn't as bad a console piracy in terms of content. Pirate a game on pc and if it has a decent cd key system trying to play multi would be limited to cracked servers which eventually dwindle away. People that want to play the multi will usually buy a version of the game at some point. Pirate a game on 360 and the whole package is there as good as a retail version, sp and multi, no searching for certain servers, no messing with anything. Ive seen ads in papers for people who mod consoles to play "backups" so its pretty accessable for the average joe to get the console modded. Games can probally be bought from the same guy for maybe a tenner a time.

Its getting boring with the games industry pointing the finger at pc users, console users are as bad and the simple fact is that on consoles its rising.

Maybe, but it sounds like speculation from Electronic Theatre and not a proven fact yet.

Correct. Theres still been no word from IW or AV, and this rumour has been round for a few days now, i'd very much doubt it's actually true tbh..
