Good on your eyes, for 100-hour weeks of text work?

What I currently have is AOC q3279VWFD8, the budget 32'' IPS.

It isn't the worst for prolonged text work (it does have a blue-light filter and optional low brightness setting), but it isn't ideal. Can't even really say why, as IPS is not necessary text-unfriendly, nor is 32'' necessarily too big, although 27'' might be more manageable without having to turn your head or zoom, or whatever.

I thought I could buy an additional monitor just for text work, which case 24'' @ 1080p would be sufficient, the focus being on whatever the monitor's manafucturer does to protect your eyes and avoid problems due to seeing so much black text on white or similar backgrounds all the time.

Alternatively, I could just upgrade my main monitor if there existed a good VA or PVA option that wouldn't end up worse for gaming than my existing screen (1440p @ 144 Hz wouldn't really be necessary as my CPU + GPU aren't strong enough for that kind of thing and I probably won't be upgrading them to that level).

So perhaps the better course would be to buy a used monitor just for text work if there exists something that stands out as specifically good for long hours of pure text work. More than 24'' and 1080p wouldn't be necessary, but I wouldn't like to go below, either (resolution more so than size).

Any suggestions?

1080p on a 27" text could be a tiny bit smaller but its not far off the correct size. I have a 49" ultrawide 3840x1080, and its basically exactly the same as my 27" 1920x1080 screen wise, accept its soo much wider.

I use some 10 year old 22" AG Neovo's with NeoV glass front, 3 of them on a lift stand.

On paper my monitors are dated, however in reality there the best I've ever used for reduced eye strain. I'm a software developer and I can honestly say I have no eye strain, or at least nothing I even think about.

Read about the NeoV Optical Glass below.

The best way to describe Neov Optical Glass, if you could imagine a cross between a DiamondTron CRT, and a digital flat panel display, this is what these screens are like.

I also use Nvidia Quadro cards (low spec ones for 2D work), and spent time setting up gammer and colour control. I've always found Nvidia cards best for setting up colour control for text.

Also and I almost forgot, I use a BenQ ScreenBar Plus over my center screen, these are totally incredible, it's one of those things you never realised you needed until you use one.

100 hour working week!!! Get another job. If you are going to spend that long in front of it then spend some money, same for a decent chair too.

TExt work - 4k all day long @ 27/28 inch. I find IPS panels a bit bright as I'm light sensitive, so usually run mine in night mode and my IPS is particularly bright so brightness is on 3.. But I find a 4k 28 inch TN panel very comfortable too. Tables and spreadsheets are much more viewable in 4k due to the resolution. Had 4k from the start and couldn't use a lower resolution for work. MOst have blue light reduction and are flicker free - even TN panels and the more washed out TN panels I find a touch less tiring as it's more like looking at a kindle with the washed out, flatter, less vivid image you get from say IPS.

Again, wouldnt say a 100 hour week is particulalrly healthy - look after yourself - unless it's just a thesis writing deadline and is a one off. :)
