Naturally this is near identical to the majority of recent purchases, I don't want to risk anything

personally i would stear away from the geil ram, i presume with the choice of cpu, motherboard and cooler that you will be overclocking?

Whys that then, mines be running fine for 2+ years.

The DVD drive, I want good airflow, there's the logic behind the rounded IDE cable.

The additional floppy drive is for my old case where I will be transferring my old components.

I've already bought a case, and a power supply. The only thing I'm worried about in this purchase is the sound card, I don't see anything immediately wrong with the system...

the only concern i have is the ram! i bought some and it wouldn't even run stock timings at ddr800! so memtested and sure enough was faulty (a lot of people have had this problem), i have coming to me 2gb or team xtreme pc6400! this stuff is amazing, timings of 4-4-4-10 and hits 950+mhz, people have even been running it cas3 (3-3-3-10) and still getting 960mhz! and all for £205 not bad in my book

ofcourse - duh!

what case you're building it in?

maybe go for the E6600 and overclock to 3.2Ghz?

I don't really have the extra £100 unless I wait till next payday, which is January.

I have faith in the RAM, what Gibbo has said reassures me.

I'm worried that beefy graphics card might not be supported by the motherboard though, the DS3's PCI-E slot is listed as X16(X8), what's the X8 in brackets mean? As that card only runs on X16 iirc...

Ive got a GTS in a DS4 and that seems to run fine. From what i can remember i dont think theres a fat lot of difference between the DS3 and the DS4

floppy for 6 ******* pounds? i wouldnt pay 1 penny for it, tons of ppl are ditching their old pc's with workign floppy's, just try to get one from free from someone who doesn't need it, as exept for installing raid drivers, i wouldnt know why the hell someone would need a floppy these days, just make a bootable cd if you need a bootable drive...
Get yourself some beer for the money instead :) .

Exept that: nice spec... Would love to have it myself...
