As the title I currently own a good PC as also written in my sig, I currently game on the xbox and I see the benefits of playing on PC, smoother far better graphics etc

I don't want to start a debate about what is better graphically!

what I want to know is

  • Playing spies v mercs on pc can I use a control pad? Do people use a control pad?
  • How stable is online compared to Xbox?
  • Is the chat system stable?

Thanks

  • Playing spies v mercs on pc can I use a control pad? never played it so dont know.
Do people use a control pad? Yes, lots.
  • How stable is online compared to Xbox? Depends what game, but in general, more stable.
  • Is the chat system stable? Erm, voice chat? again depends what game, but most people that use voice coms use dedicated programs like ventrilo or Teamspeak, both of which are great.

1 - Yes plenty people out there use Control pads. I only use my 360 pad for football/racing games.

2 - Yes most games are stable online.

3 - Erm yes. There are few out there. Mumble, teamspeak etc... I use Mumble.. Only because most of my friends on my list use it.

So if using a keyboard for gaming, if I am crouched and crawling at a slow speed.. normally involves pushing the left toggle stick slightly.. How does this sensitivity work on a keyboard?

I use a 360 pad for most 3rd person games. A lot of games this last few years were built for console anyways so they work spot on

you can use cntrol pads on pretty much any pc game except online fps, control pads just arent fast and accurate enough against mouse players on those games

As mentioned above if you are playing games in multiplayer you'll lose out big time to keyboard/mouse players due to speed and accuracy being much better with a kb/mouse combo. Also there isn't really any auto aim in most PC games like there is in console ones, without that assistance you actually have to do the aiming yourself, so you might find it far harder than you expected.
