So, odd one, gf and I want to start streaming as we both watch a load of streamers and figured it would be a good way to spend spare time in the evenings rather than watching crap TV and be able combine our love of gaming.

So, what game could we start with?

There really isn't very many for PC.....

All the games with local Co-op on console, don't have the option on PC, unless you use 3rd party software to hack local co-op....but never tried it so don't know how much of a hassle it is or isn't.

Only good local Co-Op game on PC I can think of would be Portal 2.

We don't stream and she isn't much of a gamer, but together we have played Trine, Left 4 Dead, Castle Crashers, Pixel Junk Shooter. All should be able to use controller I think.

Maybe play through some puzzle games together?

I don't think L4D has local coop on PC (without quite a bit of tweaking/bodging)?

Pretty sure you can get Minecraft running "split-screen" with a mod (not tried it personally, but the controller mod works well, which I believe is part of the same mod)

This was L4D2 (only mentioned L4D in a general rule of the series). Admittedly we did this via the 360 for this game. I haven't had the game on PC all that long and it isn't something we have tried :p thought it would have been same for console and pc.

Games I've played:
Trine (I find it boring, but it's beautiful. I play occasionally with my 5-yr old)
Gauntlet (love it)
Sonic Racing Transformed (like Mario Kart, but not as good (still decent, though))

Off the top of my head, games I've not played:
Rayman Legends
Octodad
Duck Game - very recent, looks superb. A smash bros-style game.

^^ Gauntlet/Octodad + Marvel games.

Also don't forget.. Goat Simulator, my daughter (4) absolutely loves playing with me on that game, not exactly coop but can be a laugh.

Lego games!

My Gf and I have 100%ed almost all of them. They are brilliant casual 2 player games. Theres also plenty of them so you can chose the one you like best.

Castle Crashers

^one of the few games that my partner ever bothered picking up the controller to play with me, and finish the game.

Pretty sure I've looked into it before, and it's not natively supported.

There are ways you can do it, but iirc it's pretty convoluted (forcing multiple instances of the game running on different executables to connect to a local server running on yet another executable, whilst in windowed mode) - Borderlands is similar - it's a bit of a pain, since as you say, if it works on the 360, why can't it work on the PC since it's almost the same platform.

Ah yes, how could i forget Goat Simulator :p

I think we will start with Lego Games, a lot of them and we both like HP so can start with those.

We started the first one already, will contemplate running from the start again or not.

They work really well. My advice would be to try and play any you do get in release order as they changed the mechanics of how they work which will be annoying if you then go back to an earlier game.

Up until Pirates of the Carribean both players had to be on the same screen. From Pirates onwards they implimented a dynamic split screen allowing you to go to completely different part of of the level each.
Up until Batman 2 (I think?) they didn't have voice actors. They instead used noises to progress the story and it was always pretty good comedy. I actually prefer the non voiced games to the voiced ones.
They have also moved away from a hub and levels design to an open world design for most new games too. The Harry Potter ones are a sort of halfway house with a really large hub in the form of Hogwarts.

But basically, they are all epic. I have 100%ed both Harry Potters, Pirates, Batman 1 an 2, Marvel Superheros, and Star Wars, and were currently working through Lego Movie. Once thats done were going to pick up Batman 3 as well :).
