good pc stratergy games???

Yes!

Try some of the Paradox games. Hearts of Iron 3 and Europa Universalis 4 are my favourites and are much more in depth than the Total War games. If you love Total War and want to go to the next level of strategy game then these are the ones to get.

There is also Crusader Kings 2 (which I haven't really played as I've been busy with the other games) and Victoria 2 (which I'll be buying once it is on Steam sale hopefully over Christmas).

Also next year they are releasing Hearts of Iron 4 which I'm really looking forward too and Stellaris which sounds interesting.

You'll easily gets loads of playtime out of these games though. They are so epic you'll be playing them for hours.

Grey Goo is decent, C&C type of game.

Down to taste of course but I’d not touch that with a barge pole! It became so shallow, repetitive and no one plays it online to any degree. It died because it brought nothing new or even decent to the table. Just past developers cashing on past glories. :(

I’d say read into some of the reviews for the older tried and tested games and get a bundle with all the DLC for a silly low price on steam sale this Christmas.

Galactic Civilizations® III

If you like deeper strategy games then Paradox make the best ones imo.

Big fans of Crusader Kings 2 and Europa Universalis IV, though I would rate EU4 as a bit easier to get into as CK2 has you focusing a lot more on internal struggles, where EU4 is more about external ones to your nation.

Check out Supreme Commander and the Forged Alliance Expansion pack. Massive scale and epic battles. Its great as you can zoom all the way into individual units, or zoom out to see the whole map. There is also a supreme commander 2, but no where near as good IMO.

I actually liked grey goo. It is very C&C in its style, which was totally fine by me. I agree it does get slightly repetitive after a while, but I liked that the three factions all had different quirks. MP scene is totally dead though. Other than that, I'm waiting to see how ashes of the singularity plays out as it looks great

This! Then download Forged Alliance Forever and compete online, for strategy on a massive scale it doesn't get much better

Did Planetary Annihilation ever get good?

For me one of the best if I just want to lose an evening is Sins of a solar empire. I've tried to get into EU4, but as yet I've not managed to really learn what it is all about. I also have Distant Worlds Universe, which is apparently great, but again I've not cracked it yet, so can't comment myself. Another that others on here might be able to comment on is Galactic Civilisations.

EU4 is actually not too bad to get into, just can be a little overwhelming at first, however it's definitely the kind of game that you can learn and play, and then find something totally new hundreds of hours later.

If you got any questions about it ask away I'm happy to help :)

For a beginner nation I would recommend the Ottomans, just so many options/choices. Want to take over Europe? you can, want to expand into the middle east? yep you can. Almost nothing you can't do as the Ottomans, and you have superior strength to all nearby people.
