I've bought a few games for the kids and I to play lately, and many of them come with crappy cardboard cut out character pieces.

I thought it'd be nice to get us each a nice plastic/metal mini each that we can use across games.

We're playing a lot of 'Dungeon!' at the moment, so something fantasy styled.

Anyone know of any places that sell this kind of thing?

Painted or Unpainted? You could get some Warhammer Fantasy items off of Ebay or direct from GW. Mantic have a good line as well. Reaper and Heresy are also quite nice.

You know, I never even considered using Warhammer stuff :o

Not looked at a Games Workshop since my 40K days many moons ago. I bet they've not got any cheaper :D

Not heard of Mantic, i'll have a look there as well. Cheers :)

What are good places that sell painted mini's?

Reaper have almost any type of miniature you could want. Miniature Heroes are a UK based 're-seller' of Reaper miniatures among others. I've used Miniature Heroes before and can recommend them, although if you order something they don't have in-stock you have to wait for them to get the models from Reaper themselves for example, but it's never been an issue for me.

Tritex Games also sell miniatures, as well as second hand miniatures, and pre-painted miniatures such as the D&D and StarWars figures. It's run by a guy called Jason and never had a problem myself.

If your looking for quite a few to fill a boardgame then you cant really go wrong with the reaper bones range for a very cost effective miniture. GW are at the oppisite end of the scale with cost but they are also higher quality.Reaper also do better minis but of course the price then goes up also. Mantic go somewhere inbetween the two.
