As per the title really. We are in North West London (Hillingdon) and I am wondering where to take the little one on Monday. Was thinking about somewhere like Thorpe Park / Chessington (they have areas for younger kids) but I think they will be totally rammed.

Have been to most of the farm type places that are local.

Was originally planning on taking her to the miniature village "Bekonscot" in Beaconsfield, and then my younger brother threw a spanner in the works by telling me it is &%$£ and not to bother?

She keeps asking me if we can go on a boat, but every time I look up all I can find are commuter boats that run on the Thames and are right in the heart of the city.

I guess the kind of thing that would be ideal would be some kind of large-ish boat that travels along a stretch of water for about an hour, where we can look out and see the scenery.

Anyone got any ideas where we can go?

We took our kids recently to a play centre in Milton Keynes called Gambado. It was great and quite reasonable in entry costs. There is a web site if you want to look it up. Don't know how busy it will be on Monday, but we all thoroughly enjoyed it as they don't mind if the big 'kids' go down the big slides. The restaurant was acceptable too.

Beconscot is good, but I think that your young lady is a little too young to really appreciate it.

Thorpe Park is good, but not in the rain forecast for Monday.

There was a tour on the Thames which I think was called Frog Tours which were amphibian vehicles which went on land and then down a jetty into the water. I don't know if they're still running, but I think that they were quite expensive.

You're only up the road from me :p
How about Legoland in Windsor? I haven't been myself but I've heard good things about it, apart from that it can be a bit pricey. You can also do boat trips up and down the river in Windsor for a few quid.

Children and water don't mix stay on dry land. I don't intend on taking my daughter on any boats unless its big enough to drive my car on it.

Bekonscot is awesome, my two year old and three year old were transfixed by the whole think. My boy (was two at the time) had to be dragged kicking and screaming away from the place, but then again he's right into railways.

Bekonscot is wonderful.

Frankly any sort of boat trip on the Thames will go down well (even the commuter ones), so see what's available.

Is your younger brother also three years old? :p

I vote either Bekonscot or Legoland. The latter is quite expensive, but great fun for kids. If you decide to go there and want any advice then feel free to ask - I worked there for four years!
