Someone has asked me to find them some games that I think they would like. They're a heavy player of facebook browser games (games similar to farmville) but want something with a little more depth. They like murder mystery books and not overly complex puzzles so I came up with some of the better point and click games below, but they strictly dislike any type of fighting what so ever - (I showed them Wakfu & Terraria which they said no to because of the fighting elements). So I was wondering if anyone can recommend any games that this person might like.

The games I've listed are;

Machinarium
Syberia
Syberia II
Still Life
Runaway: A Twist of Fate
The Next Big Thing
The Longest Journey
Dreamfall: The Longest Journey
Dark Fall: Lost Souls
The Clockwork Man
Drawn: The Painted Tower

In addition to the above (The Longest Journey and Dreamfall I absolutely agree with):

The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition
Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge Special Edition
Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars - Director's Cut

:)

The telltale game series. they even usually have the first episode free as a demo.

and as an oddball suggestion you could also try sim games i guess like rollercoaster tycoon, transport tycoon or theme hospital as you mentioned farmville.

I'll look into the telltale games. I actually bought them RCTC3 when they first asked me to find them some games - that got shelved pretty quickly. :p

How about the Infocom mystery adventures? They're text-only, but apart from that they seem to fit the requirements? I'm serious! I still feel that real adventure games went slightly soft when graphics were stuck onto them, making them twee. In the tough moments just click anywhere in wildest combinations and hope for the best instead of thinking the problem out.

You can get the collection of about 30 or so games for next to nothing, and as computer games go, you can hardly get more in-depth than that, especially if you're into murder mysteries.

In your case I'd specifically recommend: Deadline, Witness, and Suspect (the ones I had most fun with)
although there are also: Border Zone, Moonmist, and Sherlock - The Riddle Of The Crown Jewels.

That should keep him happy for a long, long time.

And if he still fells like pointing in clicking, he can do that as well, although it won't do anything.

Drawn the Painted Tower as listed by Deific is an absolutely amazing and stunningly beautiful game, and I highly recommend the sequel too, Drawn 2 Dark Flight.

Also, Gray Matter, Mata Hari, Return To Mysterious Island, Belief and Betrayal, Al Emmo and the Lost Dutchman's Mine, The Dig, ECHO: Secrets of the Lost Cavern, Full Throttle, Grim Fandango, So Blonde, to name a few which are on the easier side.

For murder mystery, you can't go wrong with Nancy Drew, of which there are only.. oh.. 27 games. :p They are very popular.

Or Agatha Christie games. I particularly liked 'And Then There Were None', and ' Murder on the Orient Express', though they are a little harder with all the inventory combinations and clue finding, but great fun.
