My current Bitfenix Whisper M Series 550W PSU has had a fault, and have emailed the manufacturer ages ago but still no reply. So i'm looking for a back-up PSU to use in my machine to get it up and running. I was going to buy another of the same model but the price has since went up quite a bit since i bought it in January, so am not prepared to pay £78. Is there a PSU just as good for around £40 or so around the same wattage?

Once i get in touch with the manufacturer i should hopefully get a replacement and switch them round, but need something else in the mean time.

You would be better off spending a little extra now, and selling the replacement.

But for around £40

Issue is that selling a £40 psu ( when your replacment arrives ) is ;

2nd hand it will be probably worth £28

Postage - £6

So you've lost half your money already.

Thanks for the recommendation. If they don't repair it, i wonder if they send a new one out instead, so i can then sell that more than the price i paid, well basically getting my money back once you take out the ebay fees.

So it would be better to just go ahead and buy another Bitfenix then i wouldn't need to switch it over?
