Looking to replace the aerials on my network card (wifi 6 card), it has provision for 2. Auction site seems to be awash with them but wondered if there are any good quality ones to look out for (longer?) or if that really makes a difference?
In reality there isn't much difference but look for ones with a sensible gain figure. Anything over 9dBi are probably silly and will just annoy your neighbours.
I bought some 14dBi ones once (about 30cm long) and they looked EPIC but did next to nothing in the real world. They also flopped over a lot.
There is a tendency now towards paddle antennae rather than sticks but for 2.4GHz and 5GHz usage they probably won't make a huge amount of difference. Definitely don't buy the ones for 4G or 5G antennae and be aware that there are at least 4 different sizes of the screw-on bit so measure before you order.
