I need to write 20 quiz questions for this weekend. I've already written a few and wondered if any one here had good questions to add.

What I have so far:

I hosted/wrote a weekly pub quiz here for almost a year, doing 50 questions a week, so I'll dig some up when I get home. Obviously mine had to be written for an international crowd, but sure I can pull out a few.

(FWIW, I always used the "guess the obscure big number" questions for spot prizes, seemed unfair to have a team win or lose points based almost entirely on lucky guesses.)

as above the 'to the nearest number' questions aren't really your general quiz question fare. they are more suited to tie breaks/spot prizes. I've a pile saved at home too from when I used to run the odd one in my local - I can post a few up or trust mail you a load of them if you want.

Good point on the guess the obscure number ones, will swap them out with some normal questions.

I am going away this weekend with friends to play golf. Typically we play poker in the evenings. However that isn't normally much fun for whoever gets knocked out first.

This time we are all writing 20 questions each and will have a quiz. There is a one point penalty if you have the same question as someone else and there is a 3 point penalty if your questions are the highest scoring or lowest scoring for everyone else's combined score for your round. (if that makes sense. idea is to prevent anyone making their questions too easy/too hard).

The james bond question is top.. I never knew that and that would make a fantastic question. I work in a pub and we are looking to do a quiz night soon and a question like that will certainly get the punters to understand where we could go with the quiz..

The best bit about that question is it really, REALLY annoys the film nerds.

Mention the normal ones first when supplying the answers, then go for the others. Ooooh they get angry.

Technically and pedantically, the hitchhiker's question is incorrect. There isn't an answer, for if the question and answer are known in the same universe, it will cease to exist. The wrong answer was taken from Arthur's brain due to the planet earth programming not finishing correctly.

The planet one is wrong too. Uranus rotates clockwise too as it's thought to have collided with other planets.

The James Bond question is so ambiguously terrible, I'd walk out if that's the answer. Ridiculous.

Also how can you make something equally as hard as it is easy. 2 of your mates are going to get scewed because of complete chance. Say one person's total ends up being either one higher or lower than the average intelligence of the group. Harsh.

But also works out mathematically. 6x9=54 and 54 in base13 is 42... *hangs head in nerdshame*

Fairy nuff. Was always told that it was only Venus that rotated clockwise. Even had that as a pub quiz question and got it right.

What annoys me is the spoof film is not part of the anthology. You won't find it in a bond collection, so to says it's ambiguous is very fair. They weren't Bond. Hence Ursula andress has never played bond, she's just pretended to be him, as well as the silhouette guy. Not technically a correct answer imo. So yeah, mad film buff here, hence why I'd walk out.
