Good RAcing Game

Hey i am thinking about buy a stearing wheel for my PC but wondering what games to buy. I loved Forza 2 on the 360 beucse its realism compared to other racing games. Another like that out there on the PC?
 
There is nothing thats quite the same as Forza, especially with regards to car customisation.

I'd recommend Race07 and GTREvo as good games for the racing side of things. Others will come and recommend rFactor and Live For Speed.

Then again there is bound to be someone that suggests GRID has some aspect of realism and you should get that instead :p
 
If it's realism you want, I've found Live For Speed is the most like driving a real car. That's with a Logitech Driving Force Pro.

Also, sorry to hijack slightly, but if anyone who has a DFP like me could post their settings for DiRT and GRID, i'd be very appreciative. I can't seem to get either driveable.
 
Is Forza realistic? Never played it, but I was under the impression it was a bit of a arcade/sim cross breed.

If you're after realism, you may be slightly overwhelmed with what the PC offers.
 
If you want a realistic (aka sim) game, then you'll find that PC sims are far superior in terms of physics than Forza 2.

However they do generally lack content when compared to things like Forza (both number of cars and ability to modify the cars).

But, some to look at:

Live For Speed - Got a demo, and full game is only £24, not bad but never wow'ed me
rFactor - Again demo available, although standard content sucks, massive mod market though
GTR/GTR Evo/Race'07 - Basically the 'SimBin' games, all quite good with a wide variety of cars across the different games
Richard Burns Rally - Old now, but still the best Rally sim around
Grand Prix Legends - Another old one, but imo it's one of the best out there, I'd actually rank it 2nd to:

iRacing - not flawless by any means, cost being the biggest flaw (it's a monthly charge + content as well). But it is also, imo, head and shoulders above the other PC sims, in terms of graphics, physics and best of all the online Licence/Safety Rating/Championship terms.

I've heard GRID is awfull with any wheel, so I wouldn't hold your luck. Was bad enough with a gamepad, felt like it was designed to be driven by using the arrow keys.

Well I find it's best controlled with my 360 controller, suprisingly. I'll stick to the proper racing games with the wheel then!

this, it absolutely destroys the competition

live for speed and rfactor (mods) are still great though
 
If you want a Race Sim, with the emphasis being on Sim, then go for iRacing, but as mentioned above the big downside is the monthyl charge, but give it a try for a month a about £10 and see what you think.

Grid - Realism in the same sentence ;)

Get TOCA Race Driver 3 on STEAM for £5.99 then take it from there.

RD3 is Sim/Arcadey leaning towards arcade but ultimately a MUCH better game to grid in my opinion.

Still has a good MATURE online community though unlike GRID which is rammed full of stupid kids.

As others have said LFS is definitely the one to go for if you want realism.

Some friends of mine don't like it though because they've never had to use the left pedal in a computer game before... ;)
