im building a new computer with a conroe cpu, what is the best type of ram for this type of system, dus low latency benefit conroe systems? also i dont want to spend 300+ on ram as thats just silly :P

these are good IMO Geil, cellshock, corsair, what mobo will you be using? get some 6400 it will reach 1000MHz with any of the above

No need for expensive RAM.

OcUK 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400 800MHz DDR2 Dual Channel Kit
800MHz RAM Speed, CAS 5-5-5-12 Timings, 1.8-2.1v VDIMM, 1yr Warranty with OcUK.
£124.99 (£146.86)

So this stuff is guaranteed to run 5-5-5-12 at 800MHz, which is a 400MHz FSB so 2.8GHz out of an E6300 or 3.6GHz from an E6600. Not many people seem to be clocking their E6600 much further than 3.6GHz yet everyone seems to be buying more expensive RAM, why?

The Geil's fine. But the Corsair and Cellshock are better options.

The Crucial PC2-5300C3 667MHz Tenth Anniversary is looking great too.

I would, but I can't justify the extra £40.
Either way it'll be a chunky step up from my stock single core Athlon 64 3800 system! ;)

I'd recommend spending the extra £40. You get better timings, better quality, better clockability and a lifetime warranty vs 1yr if you go for the Geil.

I would if I hadn't already gone £70 over budget ;)

Is OCZ Platinum 6400 any good? Would be running on a DS3.

I bought some of this for my 6300, am currently running it at 830MHz at 4-4-4-15 on 2V. Might go higher but I need to see if my CPU is stable at 2.9GHz first! :)
