Good replacement for 1080ti?

My gigabyte 1080ti aorus is slowly dying I believe, I don't think I will bother with gigabytes warranty service. It was like pulling teeth with my motherboard, especially the part where I was asked to put £15 cash in with the motherboard but thry claimed the warranty repair was free. So I might just buy a new card.

Any recommendations? Was looking at the 2070 super (kfa2) looks a good card for the money. Feels like I'm basically buying the same power again though lol.

Gigaman is fantastic but he should not be a bandage just for ocuk you should post about the bad experience as a whole. Gigabyte have a 4yr warranty for free second only to Zotac so i would use either vendor myself and only them all the 2yr chancers are basically dellboys.

So if the service is wrong post the details and we will add them to the list of who to avoid. But i always thought Gigabyte would be good they have been around for 20+ years. The one thing i find disturbing though is someone asked you to include £15 in cash that is so wrong and dodgy.

Before this they had been actively discouraging me from trying to RMA and told me to go through Amazon to get s refund instead (it's two years old and Amazon told me to take a walk)
They said that they couldn't guarantee a repair and i would get a refurbished board if they couldn't fix it. They did a lot to discourage me from sending the motherboard back. I didn't bother in the end. Especially as I felt it dodgy when they requested the 15 pound cash in the box. Who does that?

Anyway back on point. The GPU always ran hot and was always loud (which I knew when I bought it) so it's a good time to get a replacement anyway that will hopefully be less annoying/run cooler. Also be nice to have rtx on that huge catalog of 4 games I suppose.

I might end up rmaing the card so I can sell the card in the future anyway, but still want some ideas in replacements if you guys have any ideas.

Like for like performance 2070S and same vendor if you prefer Nvidia. If you fancy trying AMD I'm very happy with my 5700XT Red Devil. With AMD in the new consoles I think there could be more performance to come.

If you want more performance is say 2080 if you can find one for a good price or 2080Ti. Buy RTX for what it offers right now, I suspect it will go the way of PhysX and Gsynch and an open standard for ray tracing will be widely adopted.

Not that many options as the 1080Ti is still a fast card.

Yeah I was looking at the 5700xt as well. Seems really good in some benchmarks but really low in others (in the reviews I was looking at) not sure if it's cause it was early drivers or something but it was ahead of 1080ti in loads of games but then waaay below in others. It was really inconsistent.

Would be a nice pairing for my Ryzen. But then again I would like to jump on the rtx bandwagon. Decisions.

It does seem title dependent. One thing to bear in mind with 2070S level RTX is the hit in frame rate. Depends how much you want it as obviously you'll be running a lot lower frame rates than your 1080Ti or the 5700XT if you turn it on.

My plan is to run my Red Devil, save a few quid and see what high end cards are out next year. I suspect there will be a ray tracing AMD card to tie in with the new consoles.

I have this card, couldn't recommend it highly enough, great performer and cool! Mine seems to be beating the benchmarks for the 2080 super so i'm happy and it's at a great price at the moment

Doesn't that set any alarm bells ringing? I lower tier card shouldn't be bearing a higher tier unless you're comparing an overclocked card to a stock one?

yea I have it overclocked, +120mhz on GPU clock and +900mhz in afterburner and runs cool at about 65c

I took a punt at the card at £475 the other week, i usually go for Asus or similar but don't regret it at all. Perhaps not aesthetically pleasing as the others but technically it performs brilliantly.

When you say the 2080 is pushing it, what prices are you looking at? For a more useful upgrade from a 1080 Ti I'd go with a 2080 Super. If £799 or so puts you off then just go FE. Given you probably paid £500+ for the 1080 Ti, FE at £650 can't be too bad? 2070 Super is probably better value for money but ultimately the 2080 Super is faster(superer?

) and will put a larger gap between your 1080 Ti.
Lots of ways of thinking. Even a 5700XT might not be a bad option either at least as a stop-gap before the NV 3*** gen arrives (RT done better).

Surprised to hear that your 2070 super is beating a 2080 Super

My amp extreme 2080 is on par with the super 2080 but that's with a higher oc than you have on your super 2070

Not seen any benchmarks putting a 2070 super on par with a 2080 Super

Well done if your card is that good

2070 super is not worth it, don't fall for the hype. Nvidia prices are filthy. Enthusiast cards are just to expensive this generation, dont get conned.

Best value is 5700XT

What res are you playing at? My 2070 Super is surprisingly capable at 4k (48-60fps in AC Odyssey). That's with the Palit Jetstream - haven't played with memory OC yet. It's good enough that I will probably wait for big Navi / 3700 to upgrade.

When most of the good XT cards are between £410 and £500, £479 for the KFA2 is not a bad deal

I was waiting for the XT cards as I like AMD and always had AMD cards but thought i'd try the 2070 super at that price and in my opinion I went with the right choice

On my 3700x with SMT off with 16gb 3200 cl14 and the kfa2 2070s at 1440p and overclocked I get on average about 120-140fps on bfv on multiplayer w/o ray tracing on Ultra settings, 140-150fps on horizon 4, that's all i'm playing at the moment. can't argue with the performance of that for £475 when I bought it.
