Good replacement for my kit

Ok need some advise.

Currently running a 1366 i7 930, 6Gb Triple channel Ram. Gigybyte motherboard

Have read that the 1155 is a better socket and the processors can run quicker and cooler than the 1366

Would this be an upgrade or a downgrade for me?

Yeah still a pretty good system, id wait till ivybridge at least.
