I had a Draytek 2800g before but there are issues with those and BE so I dont really want to use that since its slower.

The Speedtouch thing they give you with it works... but also locks up a lot and does weird stuff :|

Anyone else got any good suggestions? Want something stable and that doesnt lose speed like the Draytek does with BE.

I've always used Netgear.... been rock solid for me. Easy interface, maybe not as sophisticated as some of the Drayteks though.

Yeah, I had a Netgear before my Draytek which was good decent enough.

Ive seen a few other recomendations for DG834GT routers but I think Id miss a lot of the features which the Draytek had :( like the built in VPN which allowed me to dial in from work :/

I cant be arsed setting anything up on my PC :( lol

If the Be box is a bit rubbish for you then set it into modem mode and buy a linksys WRT54GL, flash the linksys with custom firmware and you've got the best combination you need. Lots of settings, a compatible ADSL2+ modem for Be and a router thats going to be rock solid.

Well if Im gonna passthrough, I might as well passthrough to my Draytek :P

Assuming that doesnt drop speed too :/

"modem mode" ...how so?

I currently have the bebox (all ports forwarded to linksys) + WRT54g (ddwrt) and its awesome but the bebox is flakey and drops off every 3 days or so.

That should be fine, its free too! Why was the draytek loosing speed in the first place?

Well lots of people have reported problems with Drayteks and BE broadband.

The majority of problems seem to be that theyre stuck at 7.5mbit connection speeds but I dont have that.

When I use my Draytek, the connection syncs at around 16-17mbit which is 3-4 mbit slower than if I sync with the Speedtouch.

Not sure whether this is just due to the modem hardware or whether theres still some sort of QoS or SPI still enabled :\ Ive looked around and turned everything off that I could think of but the connection speed was still lower.

Might have to test it with the Speedtouch passed through to it at some point to see whether that drops speed too.

whats wrong with bebox?

Its a Speedtouch...

I hadnt used anything Speedtouch since my tupperware manta ray back when I first ordered 512k adsl and I was reminded why!

The damn thing locks you out of the router when you try to reset the admin password. It also randomly stops internet traffic! The router shows as being connected but doesnt pass any traffic through, either that or it locks up altogether.

Literally just got mine connected (10 minutes! :D ).
The reset admin bug is documented over at the Be forums. Basically it doesn't like IE7. Switch to FF or back to IE6 and it works.

Get a DG834PN like I have then, built in VPN + rangemax wireless
