Ive started running quite a bit and im finding the more i run the more my feet hurt,. I have some of those battered lonsdale trainers that are sort of like slippers (and about as comfy) that I wear to the gym all the time.

What sort of trainers are good for jogging that wont knacker my feet up?

Head to a running shop, if they're decent they'll have a look at your feet and give you the running shoe that provides support in the area you'll need it most, be it stability or cushioning.

I've always wondered how people in the army run in boots. I have some DM boots and it seems almost impossible to run in them..

They ease into it, but it still causes a lot of pain battle marching. Stress on knees/ankles is pretty insane.

New Balance are a good make, one of the few to do half sizes and different widths (or at least they were when I bought my pair) although you have to find a good sportshop that will have the range of stock.

HI - TEC SILVER SHADOWS!

20quid from JJB sports and they are ARMY issue :), so therefor they are perfect for running in, cheap.. and super comfy!

get em bought! :D

A combination of breaking your boots in, killing off the nerve endings in your feet, good socks and lots and lots of zinc oxide/plasters.

Dear god don't run in silver shadows, it's bad enough that they make us wear them for indoor circuits :(

ok, with the new balance (which ive heard are really good for running in a while ago) what would i be looking for? the new ones are £85 but the M692 are around 30 and 7** are around £40.

Should i just get some for about 30squid if there comfy. I take size 8/9 but usually a size 9. Are NB big or small in size?

Seriously, go to a running shop. They'll fit the shoes to your feet and running style. If you give them a budget to work within they'll try their best, they generally want you to come back. (And if you get seriously into running you can go through a pair every 2-3 months easy). Oh and join the runners world forums :) not anywhere as nice as here :p but a lovely bunch who can give you tonnes of advise and encouragement.

Indeed, forget about buying a particular brand.

I went shopping for my last pair of running shoes just wanting a good pair. After some time in the local sports shop (small independant place) and trying some on their treadmill, I plumped for some Nike Air Zoom Vomero. Great for me but could be dire for you.
