Good scam in the post!

Got a nice interesting scam in the post.

It's some world Cup lottery for the previous owners.

Right name, right address.
Giveaways it's a scam
- paper is obviously an bubblejet printer that's a bit knackered
-no return address
-mobile number on one of the contacts.
-looks tacky.

Part of the letter. Anyone fancy giving them a call?

I could ring up and say.. I have this letter. But it's not my name. I wonder if that will say i can't have it?

I always thought it was a filter. If you're too stupid not to see the obvious mistakes, you're more likely to not spot the scam when on the phone to them. Why waste time trying to scam someone who can see through you a mile off.

This is a thing.
They do this on all scams apparently like this. Deliberately bad.

Except you add the valid point about fitting a theory to the observed evidence rather than hypothesising before

Congratulations, you've broken the law (Postal Services Act 2000) by opening a letter that's not addressed to you.

I have. What is your reasonable excuse for opening a letter that is not addressed to you?

Postal Services Act 2000. It is only an offence if you open someone else’s mail ‘without reasonable excuse’ or if you ‘intend to act to another’s detriment’

It might be something important like a Covid vaccine letter or something time critical. I'd rather someone open my mail and do something about it than put it in the bin.
