Hello,

I looking at building a box for running multiple VM's for testing/learning.

The PC will not be used for gaming, just everyday use and running VM's.

Been looking at,

Intel i7 3770
AsRock H77 Pro 4-M
Onboard graphics
Total £290.50

AMD PileDriver FX 8320
Gigabyte 970A-DS3 AMD 970A Mother Board
Sapphire HD 6450 HM 512MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Total £198.57

There's a £91.93 difference in price, is the Intel worth the extra money ?

Thanks Ben :)

I've deliberately not gone with the K version because it lacks features i need for virtualization and i have no interest or need to overclock, hence the mother board is the H77 not the Z77.

It'll be on 24/7 and to be honest the power consumption is not really an issue.

Basically looking for best price/performance setup for virtualization.

Guess i could add another into the mix,

AMD PileDriver FX 8320 3.5Ghz
Gigabyte 970A-DS3 AMD 970A Mother Board
Sapphire HD 6450 HM 512MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Total £198.57

AMD PileDriver FX 8350 4Ghz
Gigabyte 970A-DS3 AMD 970A Mother Board
Sapphire HD 6450 HM 512MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Total £224.57

Intel i7 3770
AsRock H77 Pro 4-M
Onboard graphics
Total £290.50

Bottom line is the i7 worth the extra cash
