I have used IrfanView and am looking around for a good freeware / open source image editor for windows.

It needs a simple, straight forward UI, yet take care of the more advanced image editing needs. Personal reccomendations would be great!

Cool, thanks for the replies. I have been looking at Picasa2, looks quite neat and tidy actuallt but that paint.net looks enticing. I shall give it a go. Any other recomendations?

Thanks for the replies. I have tried Picasa 2 more now. Looks like one for those who like simplicity. Paint.net I have not yet given a proper run, but it looks as though this will be one for the more advanced user perhaps, I shall be giving this one a go in due course, certinly looks the part.

As for the gimp, I have not yet tried it, but I shall certinly give it a go. Thanks for the help so far!

Already knew about the Faststone stuff jbloggs, but that Photobie looks cool. Somebody's done this utilities thread; you might want to think about getting them to add Photobie to the list. ;)
