Good Smart thermostat - not Hive

Can anyone recommend a smart thermostat? I previously had a Hive, which was working fine until a couple of weeks ago when I tried to connect it to the home network with the idea of integrating it with Home Assistant. I never managed to get it to detect the receiver or the stat, only the hub. When attempting to get it to working online again, the Hive stat stopped connecting to the receiver entirely, so the only way we can switch the heating on is manually at the receiver. I've looked at Tado and some others, but most have a good majority of poor reviews. I'm not particularly interested in being able to turn the heating on and off remotely, but I would like the ability to view the room temperature online and know when the heating turns on and for how long.

Tado X is the new version of Tado. It supports OpenTherm if that's on your radar moving forwards (right boiler/wiring center required).

The OEM controls are best if you have a later model Vaillant from my research. But again, you need the proper wiring center for it to work.

Thanks, we currently have an older boiler, so doubt it supports opentherm. Nonetheless I will add it onto my watch list.

I have Tado and have no issues with it, but also integrates really well into Home assistant.

The tado App gives you some nice graphs on when the heating came on, how long for, and the temp of the room, you would also be able to pull this into HA as well.

I've got a Tado v3+ on a combi boiler.

It was easy to install, just replaced the previous Honeywell controller/thermometer with the Tado one, it was just 2 wires.
If you've got a hot water tank then I think the installation is a lot more involved.
I'm starting to replace TRVs in some rooms with Tado ones, takes about 5mins.

Tado do their own geo-fencing to turn it off/on based on location.
The free version will send you a push notificiation and you decide to what do do or there's a paid option (£3.99 a month) that will auto turn it off and on, but you can probably do it yourself via Home Assistant.
