Been using remote assistance in windows to control my netbook over a small home network. it works great but its annoying to send passwords and invitations all the time.

Any 1 know the best way to control a pc over a network without the other computer allowing you all the time?

You can use Remote Desktop but it's not on XP Home which I guess the netbook is running. Any VNC based application would be a great alternative, TightVNC and RealVNC are just two examples. If you want control over the Internet (as well as your local network) you can use something like LogMeIn which is a free service, you just log on to their website and you can automatically see your computers if they are on. I use both VNC and LogMeIn on my EeeBox.

Real VNC is what I use, works fine for me and better than remote desktop, it even has a web interface so you can control your PC via any computer with a browser so you don't have to have the client installed.

There are other VNC based programs too like Tight VNC

Used LogMeIn for a few weeks now and am quite impressed with it. You can download the trial first to see what you think.

Logmein Free user here. Its free but has some limitations over the paid version. Having said that, these limitations are nothing that in 2 years of using it have caused me to think or wish I'd got the paid for version.
