Nice build there, but yeah, for overclocking you should get a decent cooler...

It's not like the OP is getting a GTX580 or Crossfire 6950...the 2500K overclocked to 4.0-4.2GHz on the stock cooler would be enough for a 6870.

considering my current pc is a dimensions 4600 which has served me well for many years i think i will worry about overclocking in the distant future if i feel it needs a boost. only reason i went for the 2500k. ty for checking my proposed build

Granted... however, it's not going to keep the temps very cool at that sort of overclock and it's going to be pretty noisy also. For the sake of 20 quid to shave off a shed load of °c and keep it quiet... not to mention getting a better overclock (It's what it's for at the end of the day!) then it's a no brainer. IMO
