Good speakers, £100ish range, maybe slightly less + Shuttle SN25P soundcard? Upgrade?

As in my title pretty much. I'm after some good speakers for my PC, should I be getting 2:1 or 5:1? I heard that it's down to personal preference really? (Don't have much of a clue about this kind of stuff). Looking in the £100 or less range.

And again, as in title, should I upgrade my SN25P card? It's:

"7.1 Hardware Sound Controller (VIA Envy24PT)"

According to OcUK website. I guess you can always upgrade, but my question really is "Should I?" for the price range of my speakers, will I hear a significant difference?

if you get some £100 2.1 speakers then it would definately be worth getting a nice card to go with them.

ae aego m is the way to go at the mo, 2.1 £100 supposidly great sounding, very balanced. will be getting myself a pair on payday, 10 days n counting

The onboard VIA Envy is a great soundcard with all the outputs/inputs you need, optical, spdif, regular analogue etc etc.

I run a pair of Philips HP 1500 Dolby Digital headphones of them and couldnt hope for better from onboard.
