Hello Chaps, Thinking of a new setup. Play games, HD movies, Encoding.
Is this system Compatible, or am i going overkill with some of the components eg like the mobo?

Cheers for any info, i would use the Power supply from my RIG and the HDD's

Two options here. Either you're running this under phase/very good water, in which case the board and ram make sense, or you're not and they don't.

The far cheaper 1600mhz ram and the gigabyte UD5 / asus P6T / evga sli are better ideas.

If you're buying the H50 for this computer you absolutely do not want the classified. There is no point having a board that'll break 5ghz if your cooling is going to fall on its face above 4, and nearly any of the X58 boards will run above 4ghz.

So the issue isn't that its compatible as such, just that the board & ram will perform exactly the same as far cheaper options. Pretty case :)

i agree
the motherboard is obviously a good one but many say it is not worth it at all
a GB ud-5 would do the same for much less
id like to ask if you're going to have it completerly water colled because if not the 800D case is apparently not the best for airflowas it is designed for water cooling

Cheers for the Advice, yeh i dont think i will be watercooling, I heard the Gigabyte mobo has cold boot issue, which RAM should i go for. The Case has good reviews for air cooling as well, just my Thermeltake Kandalf is fine but just it rattles a little bit now and again. Just that case looks really nice for cable management. I want to overlock it to about 4ghz. :)

ye my post is a little badly worded im not saying its bad at all im just saying the 880d is quite expensive so its got to be preety amazing to pay £200 for

Cold boot issue meaning when at very low temperatures, or when turning on in general? Mine takes a while to boot but has never failed to, even when I set completely ridiculous things in the bios. Were it to have such an issue there would be thousands of posts on here about it as a result of so many of us using the board, I'm fairly sure you wont have an issue there.

The evga and asus boards are also very nice, and probably a better idea if you've decided you don't like the UD5.

Probably 3x2gb of 1600mhz corsair, though patriot and ocz offer very good alternatives. I don't like the H50, but there are many, many threads on here about the device already. £200 on a case is reasonable if it lasts for many years, my akasa was around £150 and has survived about four builds so far.

Cheers, Thats what i was thinking, What im looking for is good support for RMA, I just sent back a Asus Graphics card, been over 5 weeks now, Yeh the case looks nice, thats the thing i usally spend quite a lot on things if they last longer. Do you think its worth putting this kinda rig on my Kandalf. And what is Evga Support like for there mobos?

new spec mate tbh, I toyed with something very similiar but couldn't justify the price of the mobo. I'd picked the trident but at the time ocuk didn't stock it so bought something else. Ended up going for the bloodrage over the evga - price being a driving factor. Aesthetically it's personal choice but both mine and the evga look fantastic, the blue of the gigabyte doesn't do it for me. I liked the ud5 and extreme but ... Also the bloodrage came with wc block for the chipset which'll save me some dosh when I upgrade. Fingers crossed it'll see me into i9. The Evga LE is a nice compromise if you only want to go single x16 gfx.

Does this seem better now?

And what is Evga Support like for there mobos?
My rma experience with evga was a nightmare, i sent a 680i board to germany for an upgrade to a 780i, they turned it down on the basis of "dirt in the heatsinks", as i had cleaned the board with an airline prior to shipping i knew this wasnt the truth, my board lay untouched for over three weeks while they moved headquarters, when i got it back again it died a few days later. Maybe a one off incident but it put me off evga a bit.

Given the exceptional rma reputation of Asus, I bet the UD5 is looking a bit better now. Despite what their rep occasionally says on here about 5 day rma's I'm yet to see any such event reported online. Gigabyte have a milton keynes rma centre. Could even drop it off in person if you wanted to :)

That ocz ram will be excellent. It would drive me mad having holes in the top to connect water cooling to without using them though, so I would personally look towards the reaper or blade series. I really like ocz ram; I've had two sets die on me (ddr2 doesn't like voltage apparently) and there was no bother during the return of either. RMA to Holland doesn't matter so much when ram weighs so little and the turn around is swift.

edit: just to be clear, as sarcasm doesn't work that well in text, Asus have one of the worst rma reputations of any company in this field

Yeh tell me about it, im 5 weeks in to the RMA with asus, and you have to go through a company through Scotland, who take for ever to send the board to Asus and Return it back to me, im just wondering what they will send back to me. I have never used OCZ ram, are they compatible with most boards? I really like the case though :) I usally used Corsair and Crucal Ballistix for my previous systems.

I can certainly reccomend ocz ram, btw bad luck with the asus rma mate, so much for their new 5 day turnaround.

Ive had 2 lots of ocz fail on me recently, rma was quick and no problem but has put me off their ram for now, using g-skill seems pretty good as well.

Yeh there 5 DAY RMA is only for motherboards not graphics cards, and you have to pay like £16 delivery. Decisions, Decisions, do you think I would see a major difference from my current rig

what about a refresh? Nice board so used q9450 (or new when deals start again) new case ssd and gfx? Ssd case and gfx should see your system out and onto next build. What do you use it for mostly?

A few games, Encoding video, general browsing, and Linking it up to my HD TV for HD movies. Current rig does cope with most things, but im using a 2600XT at the moment, to see what Asus send me. Are prices a bit high at the moment for memory? etc, I want stability, the 3870x2 gave me artifacts for so long. And crashing in games
