Hey, Im looking to get this rig. I have £860 max to spend, and i need it this week.

Point of view Geforce GTX260 'Maxcore' £223
Asus Maximus 2 Formula P45 - £182
Q6600 - £158
Hiper 680W HPU-5K680 SLi Certified - £58
OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C4 800Mhz Reaper HPC Enhanced Bandwidth Edition - £58
Thermaltake VI40000BNS M9D Gaming Case - £55
Samsung Spinpoint F1 640GB - £49
Tuniq Tower 120-LFB - £35
Samsung SH-S223F/BEBE - £15

Total - £859.99

I need to use the rig as a backup for rendering, but i like having the VGA Card for Mudbox 2009 (uses vga card to draw on viewport) dont mind ATI if their better. I play Crysis however.
I plan on overclocking, id like 3.6ghz.

What do you think?

Def do not buy the Asus Maximus. If you're spending that much on a mboard, it must be an X48 to be worth it.

Swap the PSU for a Corsair.

Swap that Thermaltake case for a Lian Li PC7 or Antec 300.

Yeah seems a but pricey for that bored i would swap for some like the Asus P5Q-E.
Swap PSU for preferably modular, Corsair are recommended highly.
As mentioned swap case for like the Antec 300.
Also i would change the cooler to Tuniq Core Contact it is cheaper and better.

Is this a better spec then? (I chose p5q-deluxe as it has express gate ssd, which looks like a nice feature) and bumped upto a q9550, is this worth it? will it overclock more?

better? or q6600 with gtx260 better?

(this comes to £854)

I don't think the P5Q Deluxe is worth £152. Basically, for that spec, you should have a minimum of a 4870 for the GPU. The Q9550 is great if you can justify the price over the Q6600. The current batches of Q6600's aren't clocking very well atm, allegedly.

I would go for P5Q Pro + 4870 + Q9550

or

P5Q Pro + 4870 + Q6600

So dropping the Deluxe for p5q-e and a 4870 golden sample? Its not primarily for gaming. Just for rendering in Maya

Few more Questions, is that ram good enough for overclocking with? Also would a P5Q Deluxe be better? Or a X48 board for the q9550? I want the highest stable overclock possible. Graphics i dont mind lowering.
